The project is a pilot programme of welcome/integration/citizenship of immigrants through the improvement of their linguistic abilities. In our experience and in reference books, the immigrants' knowledge of the host country language is of central importance for their successful inclusion in the host society. Cidis Onlus, the organisation leading the partnership, has put together a number of partners from countries of both long time (Italy, Germany, Spain) and recent European Union membership (Slovenia, Poland), in the effort to exchange experiences and to implement an innovative programme. The project main aim is the definition of a flexible and transferable module. This will be tested in language courses. With the general objective of fostering migrants'integration in the host society by improving their knowledge of the language, the project has selected three targets beneficiaries and activities:
a) newly arrived mirants for whom are organised host country language courses centred on the communication of basic and everyday needs (situation/relation lauguage oriented to day to day life);
b) short term resident migrants, involved in socio-linguistic and cultural alphabetization courses (with syntax functional to access services);
c) language courses centred on the citizenship issue for long-term resident migrants.

The activities consist in the:
- exchange of information among partners and creation of a transnational work group;
- carring out of a researchwork;
- organisation of Learning Communities;
- definition of a model of a transferable language method, aimed at welcoming/integration/citizenship;
- implementation of six language couses in each country partner to test the module;
- implementation of a final Conference;
- dissemination of project results, transfer of experimental model;
- evaluation and final report.

The expected results are to create a model for the improvement of the beneficiaries’ lingustic abilities and their knowledge of the social and legal organisation of the welcoming societies so to let them take part in the democratic process of the host country.
It is expected to have increase the number of indirect beneficiaries (relatives, co-nationals, colleagues, friends…) aware of the importance of host country language.
The sustainability of the results lies, in the first place, in the drafting and dissemination of a transferable model of a socio-linguistic courses aimed at integration. This model (broadcast on-line, distributed on CD rom in all the partners’ countries and to organisations and associations working with migrants, to schools, to educational agencies and to all interested subjects) will be a a tool, tried and tested at more levels. The experimented model, will be disseminated at a transnational level via the on-line website; at national level through the learning communities and the partners’ network. The dissemination of the results will be address in particular to the migrants’ associations and the organisations active in the field, institutions engaged in training, L2 adult schools, university media libraries, unions’ associations, ministeries.
